Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle yet profound non-invasive, hands-on treatment for the whole body. Performed on a massage table, the client is fully clothed and the touch is generally light and still. The treatment is focused on supporting the health and relaxation of the whole being, especially the nervous system. This is the system that dictates all of the body’s functioning, constantly sending and receiving information.
The practitioner listens deeply to the fluctuations of the cerebrospinal fluid within the craniosacral system. By tapping into the parasympathetic (the ‘rest and rebuild’) state of the nervous system, craniosacral therapy affords the body the time and space it needs to start repairing the cummulative damage caused by stress, injury and disease that has built up over weeks, months or decades in the body.
BCST may be helpful in addressing such situations as:
- Impingement of cranial nerves or spinal nerves
- left-right imbalances
- head injuries
- feelings of compression or pressure
- TMJ and dental problems
- trauma of all kinds — birth, falls, accidents and other injuries
- post-traumatic stress disorder.
Because of its gentle nature, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy has few contraindications. Everyone can benefit, from newborns to pregnant women to the elderly, including those who are frail or very ill. Benefits can include a sense of ease, spaciousness and stillness in your whole system as symptoms begin to resolve. Pain may decrease and you may feel deeply relaxed and centered as your body begins to release old tension patterns and re-orient to its inherent sense of health.
Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy is an incredible complement to the Rolfing process. The more relaxed and centered we feel the more available we are to change both mental and physical.
The cost is $130 for a 75 minute session with Erin Farley or $105 for a 60 minute session.
